Dave Nelson (dave@flyingunder.com) retired as a police lieutenant after 28 years service with experience as head of investigations, a member of the Serious Use of Force team, SWAT, supervisor of firearms policy, investigation, training of officers and firearms instructors, and director of the University of Illinois Faculty-Staff firearms program. He has 24 years experience in police firearms instruction including training as University of Illinois Police Training Institute Master Firearms Instructor, NRA Police Rifle instructor, FBI Counter Sniper school, and dignitary protection. He is a certified Glock armorer and also a Colt and Armalite certified armorer for the AR10/AR15 platform.

Jim Coleman (jim@flyingunder.com) is a professional engineering educator with more than 30 years experience. He is a Texas and Illinois Certified Concealed Firearms Permit Instructor with more than 1,000 licensed students, and NRA Instructor for pistol, metallic cartridge reloading and shot shell reloading. He is an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and a certified Glock armorer. He provided safety training for the University of Illinois Faculty-Staff firearms program for more than 20 years. He has extensive training in defensive pistol and has competed in military rifle and practical pistol (IDPA) competitions.
